Movement 12 is a group of independent dance artists based in and around Brighton who curate an international programme of artist - led professional development opportunities for dance artists. The programme includes: Regular movement classes, workshops and summer schools with internationally respected performance makers and teachers; Space to try out ideas and show work in progress; And opportunities to meet, discuss and explore. The programme creates a variety of contexts for dance artists and their collaborators to come together with others working in their fields to support, challenge and expand the work they do. Movement 12 aims to facilitate an environment in which the focus is on process, exploration and discovery rather than on product, and on giving professional dance artists some breathing space in which to train, try things out and explore new territory. What's gone and what's coming up... It's been a busy and successful first two years for Movement 12. We curated an extensive programme of classes, workshops and events with artists from across the globe inculding: Steve Paxton, Jeremy Nelson, Gaby Agis, Lauren Potter, Rahel Vonmoos, Jonathan Burrows, Scott Smith, Kathy Crick, Lisa Nelson, Atsushi Takenouchi, Charlotte Vincent, Andrea Buckley, Liz Aggiss, Virginia Farman, Sasha Roubicek, Mary Prestidge, Rachel Krische, Hiroko Komiya, Matthias Sperling, Henry Montes, CiCi Blumstein, Gill Clarke, Kirstie Simson, Miriam King, Marie-Gabrielle Rotie, Theo Clinkard, John Stirk, Ben Wright, Marisa Zanotti, Adrian Russi, Jean Hugues Miredin, Christian Burns, Charlie Morrissey, Becky Edmunds, Lila, Augusto Corrieri, Keith Turner, Yael Flexer, Henrietta Hale and others. We are taking a short break now while we wait to hear on funding for the next year of programming which, if we're successful will begin in Autumn 2010. In the meantime there will still be some events taking place, including, in this years Brighton Festival: The Pavilion Theatre, New Rd, Brighton Sunday 16th May 2010. 8pm - £4 Movement 12 curate an evening of excerpts and inserts, works in progress and off the cuff experiments. This will be an opportunity to sample live performance, installation and film works from some of the most intriguing dance makers around, including; Probe, Becky Edmunds, Charles Linehan, Augusto Corrieri, Lila Dance, bgroup, Miriam King, Virginia Farman, Marisa Zanotti, Charlie Morrissey and CiCi Blumstein.
