Lindsey Butcher
Since graduating from London School of Contemporary Dance Lindsey Butcher has worked with numerous dance companies and choreographers both as an independent dancer and aerialist. These include: Extemporary Dance Theatre, Random Dance (Brighton Festival), Walker Dance/Park Music, Darshan Singh Bhuller, Charlie Morrissey, Disco Sister, Vincent Dance Theatre, The Royal Opera, the Royal Danish Opera, English National Opera and Glyndebourne .
In 1989, Lindsey joined Ra – Ra Zoo Circus Theatre and began further training in aerial skills. Her circus credits as performer, choreographer and director include: Ra – Ra Zoo, No Ordinary Angels, Green Candle Dance Company, Amici Dance Theatre Company, Gandini Juggling Project, The Dream Engine, Desperate Men, Scarabeus, Momentary Fusion, Tango and Crash, Same sky, True for Company Fierce. (Tramway commission) and Wallpaper with Bedlam and Physical Recall, Fidget Feet and Yes/No’s Lost and Found Orchestra.
For over the past 10 years Lindsey has been regularly choreographing and performing with The Dream Engine both at home and in spectacular settings all over the world.
In 2003 Lindsey founded her own aerial dance company Gravity & Levity who have to date toured two major productions to theatres around the UK, Taking Flight and Shift. This year saw Gravity & Levity collaborate with The Dream Engine to create an outdoor aerial dance show, Re-flex and also hosted the first ever European Aerial Dance Festival.
